Arlington’s Regent Theatre to Host 95th Anniversary Bash!

Arlington — From its early days as a stop on the vaudeville circuit under theater magnate E.M. Loews—to the heady days of rock bands and risk-taking films—Arlington’s Regent Theatre has been a presence on the Greater Boston entertainment landscape, hosting entertainment for adults and children.

The theater is kicking off a series of celebrations in honor of its 95th birthday with an afternoon bash set for Sunday, Sept. 25.

Leland Stein, director of marketing and booking manager, said the events will call special attention to the number of performers who have been a presence not only at the Regent, but who call the town of Arlington home.

These acts include Deborah Henson-Conant, Grammy-nominated harpist known for her musical innovations and vibrant onstage persona, and Woody Giessmann, a founding member of the Del Fuegos, who is also chief executive officer and founder of Arlington-based, Right Turn, Inc. The center provides help and resources for those struggling with addiction as well as mental health issues.

Other Arlington entertainment luminaries featured in the event are John Kusiak with the Tabloid Ensemble) performing selections from the soundtrack of the Errol Morris documentary, “Tabloid”; bluegrass swing, folk ensemble The Wicked Pickers and teen pop vocal phenom Serge Clivio, and American Idol Disney Experience winner.

Other acts include Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra (URO Unplugged).

And, a face well known to regular Regent goers leaves the box office for the bright lights as Patrick Coman and his band take the stage.

Boston stand-up comedian Tony V. join the lineup, as does and physical comedian and juggling maniac, Dan Foley, who will emcee the event.

In addition, on the big screen, there will be a special sneak peek of the first Arlington International Film Festival to be hosted by the Regent Oct. 6-9.

Proceeds will benefit Regent Theatre’s equipment fund.

Event goers will have a chance to participate in a raffle, with two winners receiving “Night on the Town” packages including Regent show tickets, dinner for two at Flora Restaurant, and accommodations at the Homewood Suites in Arlington or Aloft Hotel in Lexington.
