Over 65 million people have been forcibly displaced across the world. 21 million of those are refugees. But who are they? With this unique event, individual stories from three refugees from Bhutan, Iraq, and Rwanda now living in the US will shed light on the challenges they face, the choices they have to make, and their resilience to overcome a great deal of obstacles as they settle in their new homes. Moderated by Jenna Russell, Boston Globe journalist and 2017 Pulitzer Prize Finalist.

Going beyond statistics, social media and bold headlines, storytellers share personal and intimate stories of struggles and triumphs that inspire listeners to take action and make positive change in their community and in the world. Walk a Mile is a call-to-action that challenges people to do more than just empathize, listen and learn.

Critical to the success of each event is inspiring audience members to take action after listening to the storytellers. Social impact groups and non-profits that work to support the storytellers with programs and services will also be present and will engage with audience members. These groups will come equipped with a concrete spectrum of ways that the audience can get involved and further support their work. We make it easy to put your inspiration into action!

Reclaiming Home is the first of four events in the 2017-2018 Walk A Mile series.
