Event Synopsis

The universal language of rhythm is joined by other languages from around the world in this new show from “whimsically inventive” (The Boston Globe) choreographer Ryan P. Casey and his Off Beat Tap Company. Prepare for a rich soundscape of fancy footwork and intricate melodies, featuring songs by female artists in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Czech, Korean, and other tongues. From jazz standards to K-pop, the diverse soundtrack has something for everyone, and you’ll quickly be reminded why dance is joy – no matter what language you speak.

Off Beat Tap Company was founded by performer, educator, choreographer, and dance writer Ryan P. Casey. He is currently on faculty at Endicott College, Summer Performing Arts with Juilliard, The Dance Inn, and Cathy Taylor School of Dance.

Performing alongside him will be Kelly Kaleta and Nicole Chaput. The company has presented work with the Inside/Out series at Jacob’s Pillow, Dance for World Community, Salem Arts Festival, and many other venues throughout the Northeast.

Tap lovers ogle at [Casey’s] freakishly clean footwork, with shaded in-the-pocket rhythms reminiscent of Fred Astaire.”
–Dance Magazine

[Casey] can morph from a giraffe into a grasshopper with the graceful fold of the limbs.” –The New York Times.
